Smart mobility from A to Z: the importance of sector vocabulary

We have been working in the ITS sector for years and we find ourselves progressively designing and implementing more and more elaborate solutions for increasingly structured customers. Domain knowledge is fundamental to have a successful dialogue at the highest levels. A component not to be overlooked is sector vocabulary, which in a rapidly evolving environment such as smart mobility is quickly enriched with new concepts and new acronyms.

This is why for some months now we have been careful to draw up a list of acronyms relating to the world of Intelligent Transportation Systems in the strictest sense and cross-referenceable to closely related and requisite technological domains.

Why did we take the time to compose this list? Because when you take on the time and efforts of addressing large, comprehensive project and tender documents, best practices in terms of quality (we talk about it in this article) require clarity with the customer, and in a well-written document – usually in third place, after the title page and index – it is good practice to reserve a place for a list of acronyms used. The list below is the one we use internally as a reference for this purpose, and if you like, you can do the same.

It may seem like a simple result but we decided to share it on the blog because it is the result of meticulous work – which will continue with an incremental improvement – and because it can be of help to those who work in our sector and want to master the most used acronyms.
